WA state night fishing

Hey here in washington (state) we can only use one rod and can not fish with minows. And I would like to hear some good night fishing tactics that i could use. i have done okay the times that i have gone before but i know i could do better. Any ideas?

I just wanted to get your post back to the top since no-one replied to it. Anyway, we can only fish with two poles here in Illinois. I wonder what the limit in other states is? Seems in AR and TN there is a much higher limit on the number of rods one fisherman can use, but I'm not sure?

Also, I don't really do night fishing, although I'd like to, so I can't give you any advise on that.

Here in washington at night i have always caught fish verticly fishing under halogen dock lamps, or I have caught them by swimming jigs about 6" to 1 foot under the surface by halogen lamps(i've caught more slabs this way). Another popular night fishing tactic for me is finding a lake with a nice good algea bloom (with a halogen light over the bloom) on it and flipping it with jigs, just like you would with bass and hycinths or lily pads. If the bloom is thin enough swim the jig through it.

Some of the city owned water supply reservoirs locally have a 2 rod limit but I don't think NC has a limit most places.

Kansas has had a two rod limit for years. This year they now sell a $5 special permit to fish with a third rod. Guess the KDWP is looking for more money.

Sorry buddy - NO LIMIT on number of rods in KY !! Be that as it may ... I rarely use more than 3 (when drifting or tightlining), and usually only use one at a time (casting).
If you can't use minnows ... can you use ANY living critters (like Shad or shrimp or other fishes ) ?? If not - I suggest using a 1.5 - 2 inch tube or grub on a 1/16oz jighead (preferably weedless) ... fluorescent line ... and a "black light" -- casting to blowdowns, docks, standing timber, and any other cover that you would normally fish during the day. Of course, this is going to be a "warm weather time" type of fishing. Slow trolling jigs on the outside edges of standing timber fields, and/or along creek channels might be another approach to consider.
You might also consider using jigs - even when using a lantern light (or elec 12V type) ... just cast beyond the "edge" of the lighted water, and on the "dark side" of the boat. If your light draws minnows or Shad to it ... try my "Vertical Casting" method - either on the "edge" of the lighted water OR even right up thru the middle of the lighted area and schooling baitfish. I think sc has a two rod limit for bank fishermen and a no rod limit for boaters. If only one rod and no minnows was the law here, id have to move . that would suck
