That seems like a silly question...
Hello everyone, I will be spending a couple weeks working around the Sullivan Lake area. Looking for something to do on the weekend, can anyone tell me if it would be worth bringing a pole and maybe casting a jig around the banks. Thanks for the help and if anyone has any other ideas I'd appreciate it also.
do it you will have fun

Nope, no fish in Indiana. They took them all out a couple years ago.

If you get tired of Lake Sulivan, just go south a few miles to the Greene Sulivan State Forest and it has 120 strip pits to fish about anything you want to catch from the bank. Ask around when you get here.

I would listen to cevans on that. He will give you some good info and helpful advice. You might want to focus more on bluegill than crappie this time of year, IMO.
Your going to be in the heart of western Indiana Coal mined strip pit country. North of you Vigo County, East of that clay county, I grew up there, East of you, Greene County and Owen Co. Sullivan Co. where you will be, all 5 counties--thousands of strip pits, now mostly privately owned, but the Sulivan Greene is a 120 open to fish, me and a buddy right after Nam, in 72 thru 75, never fished the same pit but once and tried to fish one every day from early Feb till hot summer, even breaking ice to get to open water dragging a 12' Jon boat with oars catching big bass, blue gills and crappies and back then, nobody ever ran you off as we didn't have permission. Now, those days are way over as everything has been bought up.. But the fishing where you will be is still darned good if you check out some little local bait shops and ask around. I personally have lost track of most of it now chasing crappies on indiana's larger lakes. All of that is my old stomping grounds. We never had the money to mount big bass, so we ate them... I might still be able to scrounge a couple of picks of a few 8 pounders. We thought it was a endless resource back then as nobody fished that much for them and we never ran into anybody fishing in Feb or March or April. I should write a book, but it would be to self incriminating!

Growing up, my dad took me to Linton Indiana a couple of times. Cane pole fishing from a row boat
Greene-Sullivan State Forest, an Indiana forest
Fishing At Sullivan County Park And Lake, Sullivan, Indiana. Fishing lake Sullivan
google trutle creek reservoir also very near Sulivan to also fish. Good bass, and catfish. 20" size limit on bass and the population is on a good comeback. Imagine releasing a 19 and 3/4" bass. It's also a catfish hotspot.
Turtle Creek Reservoir IN Fishing Reports, Map & Hot Spots. You have to register to use. Google other links tho.
All very close to Sullivan. Have fun.
