WHY WOULD U WANT A SWITCH,WIRE BOTH STRAIGHT TO BATTERY,HOW IS YOUR SWITCH CONNECTED AND WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE FOR SWITCH
I installed a second battery to my boat for Trolling. I thought it was wired correctly but apparently not. It is a 12v system and I used Blue Sea selector switch.
You can see the diagram I added below. It doesn't not work in position 2 on the switch. It works in position 1 and 1+2.
Do I need a grounding bar to hook all three grounds together? Any thoughts? Thanks

The switch is on there so I can isolate each battery and only pull from one or the other or both. But it apparently isn't working as I cannot pull from battery #2.
I run a second battery too, 12 v, i use that switch also, your diagram looks right, your just switching the + from #1 battery to #2 battery, your #2 in the switch must not be making connection. I get about 5 hours contentious trolling out of one battery, 2 batteries = 10 hours of trolling.
1+2 position is running off of #1 battery.
Yea, I figured that, I hooked my 2 bank charger up to battery #2 and and my engine starting battery. I thought if I had my switch in the 1+2 position it would charge both trolling batteries and the starting battery. I got out on the water last weekend and realized bat #1 was about dead. Bat #2 was fully charged. I was using #1 and coming home and charging #2, thinking it was charging both LOL.
I will take the switch off and test it. I thought maybe the grounds might have to be separate on a bar or something. Thanks
A ShortStop circuit breaker on bat#2 was bad. I removed it, added a breaker to the motor + wire and it runs greats on both bats.

I am glad you found out what was wrong with your setup.
I am also glad you came back and reported what you found.
Many will post a question, find the problem and never post back.
Thanks
