Looks like a blast!!!
My family and the in laws had a nice time in Texas. Chartered two half days but it wasn't very productive. The first morning was slow but we did get into some sheep head which are a blast to catch. The second day we fished for an hour and didn't catch anything, got rained out but did get to see an impressive water spout. I wasn't to impressed with our guide. We stayed in an unproductive spot way to long, the equipment was junk, and I couldn't understand why we were using treble hooks on a gnarly rocky ocean bottom. I cannot tell you how many times we got hung up and the guide was a little snippy about how many hooks we were going through. If we had single hooks we would of caught way more fish instead of wasting our time hung up. And when a paying customer arrives the boat is gassed, ice is in the cooler, and bait in the well. Very frustrating when a guide is not ready to go because the clock is ticking. On the way back I saw a bunch of Elite series anglers on the highway, those rigs are impressive. Saw Justin Lucas' rig up close at a gas station and it was SOOWEET. Overall nice trip in the Lone Star state...oh and I love Texas but the driver's are the worst ever, we were lucky to make it out of Houston alive!!

If we did what was most important in life there
would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles
I lived in south Houston for a year. Galveston can be a great fishery. I caught red fish speckled trout black tip sharks and blue crab. Sorry about the guide but glad you got to catch some. If you plan on going again look up the fishing forums fish west end anglers is a good one, theyll help you get set up with a good guide.
