    Default Smithville - non-spawn fishing

    Hey guys/gals -
The bank bites have basically stopped for me at Smithville (as of last night). I took off tomorrow to take my son out in the boat. What recommendations do you all have for crappie fishing when the fish aren't on the spawn anymore? I don't have any experience fishing for them when they aren't on the banks.

    Thanks in advance!

Try the dam area, use jigs with no bobber, keep your jig deep within a foot off the bottom. Or brushpiles in deeper water. You can find some coordinates for brushpiles at the Burton's bait and tackle website or the MDC website. Google it. Good luck!

Depends on your schedule I'm still catching a lot of Amal ones on the south end of the dam. It gets good right about dark. Using slip bobber 3-4'down. Caught three keepers last night but it was fun

they bite year round under the bridges. Usually have to weed thru a lot a dinks for some keepers.
Feel the thump, hear the drag.
