Walt & I launched around 7:45 am this morning. Started fishing around 8 am. Air was 57 degrees (which rose quickly to 80 degrees) and the water was 60 degrees. Calm winds to occasionally light breezes. Water was stained with about 2' visibility.

Walter started things off with his first crappie around 8:10 am. And it only got better from that point on. We ended up with 54 fish. The majority were crappie, but we did get some yellow perch and bluegill as well. Walt got a small northern pike and lost a very decent LM bass at boatside. Most fish came out of thick weeds in 3 1/2' - 4 1/2' of water. We tried trolling various other depths, but it proved to be wasting time. Casting the weeds was the way to go today.

We pulled off around noon as it was getting just too darn hot to be enjoyable anymore.

Here are a few of our fish:

We didn't get into any really large crappie, but they were a lot of fun! We spent most of our productive time casting 1/16 oz. jigs with straight tail, curly tail and paddle tail trailers. Of note was the black 2" curly tail. It did well for me today.
