Default Late Report, Ct. River, 5/11/16

The weatherman predicted showers and wind today, so Walt & I launched the small boat around 8:30 am on the river. We pulled off by 11:30 am. Fished a backwater that we previously did pretty well on a couple of months ago. (Report 3/16/16.) Water temp was now 60 degrees, with the air at 65 degrees.

We started off fishing the 5'+ areas we had the previous luck on. NADA. We fished there for about a half hour and then switched to trolling. Still NADA. We scouted out a shallow bar, going across the bay we were fishing in. Weedy, warm and shallow. That's where they were. And they were not too particular in what they wanted to eat. We fished a variety of Slider grubs and straight tails. Either or did the trick today.

We ended up with 58 fish, with 46 being crappie, 6 bluegill, 5 yellow perch and one pickeral. Not too shabby for less than 3 hours of fishing on the water! Nothing very big, but after a rainy, cold, windy week not being able to wet a line, it sure did feel good! Here are a couple of pics:

Like I said, nothing of significant size, but the day turned out to be absolutely gorgeous with light wind and warm temperatures. So much for their double doppler, do-hickey million dollar radars!
