Default Would you replace your 40 zebras ?

with 40 yammer hammers ? i got an old johnson that runs quite well ...an 85 model ....
but i have in my back yard a 2000 something ,,,yama .....
it will be lots of work in that the the yama is long shaft and my rig runs a short shaft
and my whaler dont have a straight transom its curved and the yama will require some kinda jack plate
but the yama has sissy boy tilt instead of man power tilt ....
and my reverse is getting rather touchy on the ole johnson ....not that i back up much anyway ....
so tell me your thoughts ....its about a grand either way to do ...
fix the johnson or replace it .....?

It would depend to me. Where did the yamaga come from? How well do you know it was maintained? How long has it been sitting? The Johnson has been your and you know how it was maintained or not. Motors dont like to be set in the shed and hibernate. Could possibly sell the Yamaha and get enough boot to repair the johnson and pick up a cmc tilt unit. Tough call ya got to make.

Tuff call, them old Johnsons run like a top but so do the Yamahas. For me I would look ahead and go with the Yamaha because when the Johnson go's out your going to have to put something newer on it so why not go on and put the new motor.
