Hello everyone, I'm trying to get a new War Eagle setup . I'm going with 2 Lowrance HDS 9 's are the Ram mounts sturdy enough to keep them from bouncing around even in choppy water. And also this boat has three across seating on the front. Would the best place to mount the one on the bow be in the center or off to one side. I've never had a Fishfinder on the bow so I really don't know . Thanks

Old enough to know better and way too old to care!
I have a Ram mount on my 899 up front. I don't think I'm strong enough to tighten it down so that it won't move going across choppy water.
I have one of the Cornfield Crappie 12" mounts on my bow for my Helix10. I have a 2 1/4" RAM mount on my console for my 1199HD. As soon as Cornfield gets his new mount ready for sale, I'll replace the RAM with one from Mark. The Cornfield mounts will not allow the units to move in rough water or when trailering. My RAM mount has to be as tight as I can possibly get it before it won't move.
I have my bow mount dead-center so the Helix10 is right at my knees so I have almost zero movement to punch waypoints or make adjustments.

I have owned Ram Mounts.....and now the BalzOut. The BalzOut IMHO is the real deal. I have a stick steer boat and my 899 is mounted up front...it takes a beating going across the water with white caps in a 15 MPH wind.....and even in a breeze it is getting pounded up front. The Balzout doesn't budge......it was tightened when installed and that is it.
Regards
I bought a Balzout for my humminbird at Grizzlys and man it has al the bells and whistles,, Love the adjustments

Here is are new style mount. Has a little more adjustability. And you may notice the plate under the base. With that option you can have all your wires come from under the base so you do not need to drill a large hole some were else for the wires and then have to find a way to cover it .
The top plate were your gimbal bracket sits will swivel around a bit. And the triangle block under the top plate tilts from side to side . So if your base does not mount flat you can get your monitor to sit level. On my boat at the console the base does not mount level there for causing the monitor screen to not be level. This will help that. I also use bolt to tighten up each joint. With the aluminum knobs on the other model you still needed a tool of some sorest to get them tight. This units uses the same type of detent lock system as the other. So when you tighten it up it will stay. Even in rough water. I put a knob to tighten it up to the base in case you need to remove it for an over night stay. Loosen knob remove mount and unit all together. Then when you put it back on it should still be in the same position as before. We are currently working on an add on knuckle so you can put two arms together to get up higher or add some more adjustment. We are also working on a top plate add on so we can mount two units onto one arm. We currently have a 4'',6'',8'',10'' and a 12'' arm length. These mounts in the picture are raw aluminum sent them off Friday for black anodize. Please PM me for any questions
