    Default Wrong rods?

I just received my order from grizzly. I ordered some of the bnm trolling rods for pulling cranks. Thought they would be stiffer. Doesn't seem much difference than my jigging poles. Were these the right choice?

If they are prostaff trolling rods they will be fine, you can also use any medium action rod when pulling cranks

Thanks guys. Yes they are the pst rods. I ordered two 8 foot, two 10 foot, and two 12 foot rods so I could spread them out on each side. I plan on using arkie, bandit, and flicker shad on them.

They'll be fine !! Guys around here use PST's and other brands, some up to 20' long, and push/pull cranks with 2oz weights ahead of them ... and no complaints. I've even used a buddy's 12' telescopic rods/line counter reels (w/braid & a mono leader) with the same weights/baits ... and they worked fine. Most push/pull around 1.8mph ... and they push cranks out the front with the longer rods.

That'll work.... I might have gotten the 8', 12', 16'. four feet of separation is much better for pulling.

I'm running 8-12-16-20s and still get some tangles.

You want be disappointed with those PST rods, they have backbone. I yank on mine all the time like a neanderthal. I run 6 rods when I have two people in the boat, 4 when just me (legal pole limit). I put two 16 footers out the front rod holders, two 12's in the next holders and run two 8's off the back corners of the boat. What type of rod holders do you have? Mine you can adjust the angle (up down and left to right) to give you more separation and keep tangles to a minimum. I turn in small coves and don't have any tangle troubles so far.

Haven't decided on trolling holders yet, I have some scottys that I used to use. 2 foot separation has to be better than the 7' and 7'6" ugly sticks I used for years, but I see what your saying on the 16 footers. Thanks guys
