Question Quick Release Trolling Motor Mount

I am considering using one of these mounts so I can interchange my regular foot controlled trolling motor with a remote control steering model. If you have or have had one of these mounts please share the pros and cons.

    Thanks

I did what you are considering. Bought an Ipilot and the MKA 47 and 48. After two years and never wanting to swap them I sold the foot control and the plates.

I have an MKA-47 slide bracket on my Excel and an extra MKA-48 in case I decide to buy a foot control motor along with my RipTide. The feature I like as much as any on the bracket system is being able to slide my trolling motor back away from the nose of my boat. I pull it back about 6 inches to stow it and that keeps the motor foot and prop completely protected by the nose of the boat when docking or loading onto the trailer.

IMO it is well worth the $$. I bought my MKA-48 bracket off eBay brand new for $14 plus a few $ shipping. A fraction of what it should have cost. It pays to shop around.
