Default Video: Kansas Walleye Production Program

Each year KDWPT fisheries biologists work to produce walleye to stock in waters across the state to maintain populations. Eggs and milt are collected from wild broodfish. Fertilized eggs are taken to the fish hatcheries where they grow into fry, fingerling, and intermediate sizes. Fish are stocked at sizes and rates requested by the fisheries biologists.

If you've ever wondered what happens after the walleye are collected from nets during the KDWPT walleye netting operations each spring, this video will show you each step!

Thanks for a great program, thought about the stocking program when I was catching 8" to 14" inch walleye this weekend on Eldorado. Caught a 20 3/4 , 23" eye and lost a good one a the net. keep up the good work.
Are they stocking small mouth also or is all natural, catching a lot of them the last two years.

    Skeeter96,

The last time smallies were stocked in El Dorado was close to 10 years ago. El Dorado smallmouth bass do a pretty good job keeping their numbers up without stocking.

Thanks for your report of seeing some short 'eyes at El Dorado! Always good to hear about "tomorrow's fish"!!

    Craig
