    Default Smithville Report for 4/22

It's almost ready...they are not right on the bank but getting close. I was throwing the old trusty road runner w blue/black/char twister tail chasing a 1/16 oz jig on a double rig. I would like to say that we limited out in an hour, but, quite frankly, I'm not that good at stretching the truth!

I tried to post a pic but can't figure it out on my ding dong phone!!!!
I believe in catch and release.....right into the grease!!!!!

Good job! They are getting real close. We fished from daylight to one. Very slow to start off but picked up real good around 11am. Bigger fish were little deeper. Wound up with 24 nice fish. If it had to be measured we threw it back. 7 fish 12"+ with rest 10 to 11. Water temp started out at 60 and was 64 when we left. 9 were females with orange eggs. Caught all on southern pro twister tail grub, acid rain.

I believe the part about you not knowing how to post pics from your ding done phone. You don't even know how to check voice mail or return missed calls on that thing!!

Suffice to say, you did better than us. My son and I fished for about two hours way, WAY up river. Banks and deeper and nothing. Well....Nick caught 1. Now I know where all the fish went. Downstream. Water was 65-67 around noonish.

I made the same mistake. Went up to three fingers and hit some spots that were good last year, but only caught a keeper channel catfish. Worked my way down to Linn, then Shady Hollow where I found a spot where I caught 10 about 10 feet deep- but they were all 7-8 inchers.

Ya'll had better luck than me, put in at W started to go north and something got stuck in the needle valve of my carb. So it was cough, smoke and puke back to the ramp. Came home pulled carbs and cleaned, replaced all fuel hoses, put back in at the free ramp at 240th ran like a champ. Went down river, caught a few dinks that was it. But at least the boat is ready for camp.
