Hi guys. Found this site last nite and joined right away. I live in Petal, near Hattiesburg but grew up fishing Grenada. Fished Okatibbee alot in the past and am about to figure out where I can jig up a slab around here. You guys near the big three are so fortunate. Many, many people around here have NO IDEA how or worse, where, to catch a crappie....blows my mind. I've got three boys that I take as often as possible-between ducks and deer that is. Okatibbee's spawn is usually February and I'm gonna hit that and maybe Flint Creek and Bogue Homa as well in the same time frame. I hope it's ok w/ all of you if I watch your posts to determine when Grenada turns on...it's about 4 hours from here but I want to turn my boys on to it. We are into wading by the way and my 15 yr old really gets a kick out of it.

Any suggestions on where to crappie fish in south ms? I'd appreciate any info.

    Thanks,

    David

Default Where to fish in south mississippi

    Hey David,

I am new to this board also. Have you tried Lake Perry? It is a small lake but has alot of Crappie. When I lived on the Coast My Wife and I used to go there alot it was nice. If you camp they have a nice campground and have boats for rent for only a couple dollars a day. It is on Hwy 98 in Perry County.
Its only about 30 minutes from Hattisburg. let me know if you tried it and if they still biting. Good Fishing

Thanks Driftwood for the Perry advice. I have not fished it but will give it a try. Gonna try Flint Creek first as a magazine named it the best winter crappie spot in Mississippi. Drove by it today and it looks pretty good only the water is very very clear. I'll let you know how it is.

    Default Flint Creek

    Hey RLR and Feather,

Glad to see you guys getting active in this state forum. Flint Creek: I have fished and had some luck and we used to night fish also but I never had to much luck (at night). A friend of mine he likes to night fish and I went with him but that was several years ago. Lots of good fishing in south mississippi and north so we should be the most active forum in here. I guess alot of ppl dont know about this site but I tell everyone I know about it. Seems like ppl all the time coming on new. I have known about it for along time just decided to join to actually learn more than anything else. LOL if you dont join you cant ask questions. There is a lake to the North East from Perry not far but I cant remember the name but I am looking. It is a real good lake for Crappie, soon as I find the name I will be posting it here for you Feather since it is close to you and I think you will like Perry and It better than Flint because of traffic. Also when you go to Perry look at the Bream they got mounted up there its a biggie lol. Both these places has campground and launches. Well hope you load the cooler let us know how you do at Flint.

Hey guys, I just joined up in Dec 04. I live in New Albany and have been fishing the waterway and some area lakes mostly. Looking forward to Grenada & Enid this year. Hoping to learn more about trolling as the year progresses. This is my first time posting so bear with me.

I have been reading for about 3 months now, I had to join so I could ask some of these ppl some questions. Lots of info in here and some of these guys fish alot lol. I am gonna have to fish Grenada this year heard lot of ppl talk about it. Never fished in North Mississippi before. Worked in Tunica for awhile building Casino's, but never had time to even think about fishing lol. Good Fishing

Hello all and WELCOME to the MS board. Post often and tell us what is going on or just post and tell us what you wish was going on... Hopefully we can get more reports. The action will be picking up and I am sure more will be active on here. I have been doing some fishing at the Arkabutla spillway but the water has been high and mostly what I see caught has been snagged.
