Default one last question...sorry guys and gals!

My 75hp Optimax is 2-stroke, and has its own resevior for automatic mixing under the cowling. Please don't see me as stupid, but just unsure. I use the Penzoil 2 stroke from Walmart. I'm finding synthetic to be about the same price, and easier to find. Any problem with adding the synthetic to the existing oil, and is there going to be anything wrong with going straight from the conventional 2-stroke to the synthetic....or is it even necessary?

Again, sorry for the question. It may be stupid to some, but I'm just unsure!

I don't think it is even necessary but if you decide to do it, I would run the Penzoil down as low a possible and then add the synthetic.

The only stupid question is the one not asked. I am not sure about 2 stroke oil but in vehicle oil it is not recommended to mix them. Synthetic oil particles are alot smaller, so if you have a small oil leak with standard oil synthetic oil can make it leak faster. Also with the two oils being made different they will have different chemicals as far as detergents go. If you want to switch to synthetic I would run it down as far as you can or even drain it before making the switch. Also once switched I would stick with the same brand everytime.
