    Default my favorite hunting story

Amost twenty years ago a co-worker and I finally had a day off from a 7 day aweek operations. We excitedly took our sons squirrel hunting. Now he was my favorite coonass, so use your imagination about how animated he really got.
He came by my house to pick me and my son up and we were off...almost.
One of his sons had to "poo poo" before we ever got out of my driveway. So we got back out and let him go. We stopped at a doughnut shop and got them to go. But, as we were pulling out of the parking lot, his other son had to "poo poo real bad". So we all waited while he was escorted by his expletive father complaining about all of the delays. Of course by this time the sun was already coming up. About 30 minuets later, we finally arrived in the woods. Before we got the car stopped, the first one had to "poo poo some more". This had the father threatening to never feed them again before they go hunting or fishing. My son was too young to really appreciate all of this. But, I was just about in stitches.
I told my partner how to get to a likely spot while my son and I went the other way. A few minuets later the trio went by us. Both of the boys each had a roll of toilet paper on the barrel of thier guns. My son and I still laugh about that sight to this day.

I remember the squirrel hunts with my Dad in East Texas. No good Squirrels here in North Texas where I live now. Could be becuase of the size of the trees (REAL SHORT lol). I remember a Deer hunt with my Dad when I was a small kid. Before I was old enough to shoot a gun, my Dad made a deal with me to look one way and he would look the other. If I saw anything I would poke him. Well here comes this nice 8 pointer. My Dad raised his 30/30 and shot. We saw it fall about 20 yards later. We went straight there and I got there first. I leaned down and OH CRAP it started getting up. Well my Dad grabbed the 30/30 that was leaning on a tree and shot the deer again. Then he had to sit down because he was laughing so hard he couldnt stand. He said he didnt know which one was getting out of there faster, me or the deer. lol. We looked and only found one bullet hole in the deer and that was the last kill shot. I have never heard of it but crap I guess the darned thing fainted lol dont have any other explination.

The very best hunting trip I have ever had was with my son. It was 2 years ago and we were here on our 40 acre farm here out of Paducah, Texas. He was hunting with his 20 gauge single shot for mule deer. I was hunting with my video camera. Well low and behold here comes this 4 point Mule Deer Buck. When it got into range my Son took aim and shot. He missed. The deer only ran approx. 15 feet and stopped and turned around. Mind you the deer was only about 25 yards away. Well he loaded another slug in and cocked it and aimed again. He shot and darnit he missed again. That deer only shook its head. God im setting here filming all of this and I am about to go crazy thinking this mule deer is either stupid or deaf. Well my Son then loaded his third and final slug he brought. He cocked the 20 guage, aimed, and shot. He finally got that deer. Boy I was sure glad I got that on film. I sent the film to Cabellas for their memories in the field show but they said they couldnt put it on there since there was a deer feeder in the shot. It is something we will never forget as long as we live.
Remember folks get your kids hooked on sports not drugs.

Sounds like my Turkey hunting trip once. I shot a gobbler at about 8 steps and went to pick it up. It starts trying to run and it's flopping it's wings. Well I jump on it with my hands around it's neck. It flops till I get it's neck rung. Once back home with my bird my mother picks it. She asked where I got it cause she never found any pellet holes from the shotgun ?:D
