If you like for your crappie to have a light crust but a little spicy Try This Use corn starch to roll filets in add a little paprika and red pepper otherwise just roll them in the corn starch with a little salt and pepper I think you'll be surprised

I like to put my spices on the fish and not in the flour or corn starch. This way you get evenly spiced fish. I also will coat the fish with mustard then dredge it. I am with you on the paprika and red pepper.
