Nj, can you explain how you made your fluid bed?
Thanks
I just bought one, not sure if its the ticket or not. Just started casting my own heads. Been alot of fun, thanks to the Missouri board for heading me towards powder paint. Hope the fluid bed improves the speed and quality of finishes. Any tips or comments welcome!:D
I have one I bought and I use it some times and not others. I don't like changing the pain out so if I have a color in a container for it then I use it and if not I just use the little jars it comes in.
The biggest trouble to me is you need more than 1 jar of paint for it to work well.
I do like the way it keeps the power paint from packing down and a fast pass through is enough if you have the lead hot enough and yet not too hot.
I guess if I just painted heads all day long it would be more helpful, but I don't and I find if I am painting just 40 or 50 jig heads it's more trouble than it's worth.
All you need to do is make a PVC container where you pump air into the bottem and there is a coffee filter in between your air and paint. The air comes through the filter in tiny bubbles and fluffs your paint. I used a large compression fitting and then cut it in half and sealed the bottem and then put the coffee filter at the rubber compression ring and glued another piece of pvc in to the compression nut.

You got me curious???
I bought one from www.tjstackle.com, does work and sounds the very similar to the ones that people have spoke of making there own. Yes I agree with skip, its not really good for only doing small runs better if you did 100 or so at a time.

Thanks for all the info - I gotta go dig through my junk pile now - see if I got some PVC!!
I picked up some of the stuff today to build mine.
Look forward to using it.

Guys I got mine built and it works great!!!! I wish I hadn't bought the one now! Oh well I NEED two of them. My wife can't believe how good it works, and she's a professor. I painted 131 jigs in about 40-50 minutes, no fluffing the paint no nothing. Way too cool!
