Default Lure action, bobber versus tight line

I was watching my bobber yesterday, pretty good chop in lots of wind. It was riding up and down those waves, so, it made it look like the jig would be bouncing up and down like crazy. But... with that bobber, it seems it would give in kind of an anchor so the jig moves less than you think. Now, if I were tight lining, would my jig be moving more... because I, in the boat, am def bobbing in the waves. Obviously, my boat is not big enough, lol. It would be interesting to see an underwater video of this, to tell the difference. I guess there might be no need to move your jig! What do you guys know about this, just curious, does the lure move a lot with waves?

Some days the crappie like a little action with the jigs.....some days, all they'll touch is a slow, steady retrieve. The fish know what they want. It's our job to try to figure it out! It would be interesting to see the underwater footage you speak about though. But regardless of wind or calm, you can usually get them to bite something.

In a boat tight lining you would be drifting or slow trolling giving your jig the action of a slow retrieve. In the wind with a bobber and jig the waves do the work for you, In my experience from bank fishing in calm winds they seem to prefer a little bump for action or a slow retrieve and settle.

Relative to a stationary object underwater (suspended fish) the jig is going to rise & fall as far as the bobber does from wave action, boat bounce (rods in holders), or rod tip movement (rod in hand). Sometimes that may trigger the fish, other times it's too unnatural a movement & it will be ignored or even shied away from.

Casters & vertical jiggers rarely "bounce" the jig up/down very much , or make it rise/fall for any appreciable distance. I don't ... and if the conditions were such that a choppy water surface caused my float/jig presentation to impart such a rise/fall, I'd remove the float and simply cast/retrieve.
