First outing of 2016

Was a bust for me at the LOZ. I jigged, cast, and rigged but not a single crappie. I did bass fish on points with a Rouge for about an hour and caught one bass as big as my jerk bait. But it was the first time I've ever bass fished in the winter at the LOZ so some confidence was achieved. I pretty much haven't fished in February since...well since a long time. My main goal was to run the boat after letting it sit for two months and make sure everything was in working order. By the way the LOZ is low and dirty. Not what I was hoping for; however if the water is low for the spawn the dirty water could be a good thing. Until the water comes up if you launch at Coffman use the ramp on the right if your looking at the lake. The left one has a mean drop off trust me.

I always take February off because of the winter draw down. The drastic drop in water level seems to mess them up for a while. About middle if March it starts getting good.
