had fun learning what to do and not to do. Here is a picture of the jigs. I painted the heads with powder coat and went at it. I know they are crude but I'll keep plucking away at it. Would apprieciate any suggestions y'all have. Thanks Fred

cover your eye's with foil, once you coat the eye its very hard to get them clean when using powder coat

Nice effort. Especially that 4th one. I used to kill with a jig like that.

They look pretty good, I'm not sure if I like the squared off tail, but the colors look good. And like the others said, the more you tie, the better and easier it will be for you. Not bad at all for your first run. Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. That dang "whip" finish is about to drive me up a wall but I reckon I'll get it down. My fingers just do not seem to want to do all that twisting/flipping etc. How about tying on jig's with a barb for tubes? Do you just cut the barb off or what?

These are Green River colors C.P. I use some of these in Herrington also but white/pink/pearl is used more in Herrington.

I'm gonna tie some more tonight when I get home. I'll post a pic or two....maybe! :>)

just whittle the tube barb off. It makes it easier for me to roll the hair around the tail and even it out. good looking jigs. are you using bucktail?:) :)

Fred you're doing fine ol' boy! If the whip finish is whupping up on you, try a few with just 3 half-hitches near the head and a dab of clear fingernail polish. Really easy and fast, and they hold up just fine. Also try tying up some with chicken hackle and you'll get a natural taper in the rear. Keep up the good work!
