    Default Skunked at Twain

We fished Saturday from 9 until 2. Ran into a little bit of ice. Fished the dam end of the lake. Fished brush piles in 15 to 20 feet of water. Entered one cove and our graphs lit up...screens were full of fish...not a single bite. Fished minnows with nibbles, jigs of all shapes and sizes, rooster tails, scented bait, glow baits and a spoon. We fished sloooooow...deep, shallow...nothing, nada, zip, zilch, zero!!!
Water temp was 37 degrees, water was very dingy, calm winds, blue skies. We talked with 5 other groups of fishermen and no one caught any...they had no bites as well.
    I don't think they've thawed out yet!!!!

Brother in law was up there sunday to check the lake out. See if ice was gone. He always has rod with him. Fished from bank a little using artificials. He caught 3- 13" crappie along the rock bank. I think North Fork area. They were up close to bank. But on the way back to truck he slipped and fell. Tweeking his bad knee, poked some rocks into his hand and broke his rod.

What happened to Mark Twain and the Crappie Fishing?

Several years ago, my wife and I (we live in Illinois) fished for Crappie at Mark Twain several times a year, and it was never hard to limit out in no time. It didn't matter the time of year or the time of day, you could always catch a mess of fish. Then for 3 or 4 years after that, it's like the Crappie picked up and left? What happened?
