    Default Minnows in livewell

I used the search function and it came up with nothing. Can you buy minnows and put them in the livewell in a "flow-troll" bucket, and have them live?

Absolutely, With a few factors considered. If your livewell has a recirculate setting to use while on the road. Then use the fresh intake after you launch. Some friends used to use their livewell for a minnow tank and still do. In the summer a jug of ice will help and some rejuvinade.

I have the bait shop put a couple gallons of water in a 5 gallon pail and transport the minnow bucket in the pail till I get to the lake then in the livewell they go. Just make sure you run the live well enough to keep then alive.

Yes ... as long as you don't have the livewell full of tap water. And also be careful of too great a temperature difference between the water in the livewell & the minnow bucket. Best bet is to see if you can get some of the water from the minnow tank to put in your livewell, then put the minnow bucket in. Cold minnows placed in warm livewell water can get temperature shock & die on you.

If available ... putting the minnows in a plastic bag, then pump oxygen from a tank into the bag & twist the end & fold it over ... then use a heavy rubber band to hold it closed ... is the best way to transport minnows for any distance. Then once you get to the lake, you open the bag & pour the water/minnows into your minnow bucket ... then pour off a little of that water & replace it with lake water, and repeat the process every couple of minutes until the water in the bucket is close to the same temp as the lake water. Then you can put the bucket over the side, or in the livewell full of lake water, and not take the chance of killing your minnows from rapid temp change shock. Most people call doing this "tempering the water".
