Default what you actually see on a fishfinder

Anyone ever make a video at a seaworld or large aquarium with the glass view of what you see on your electronics and what is actually displayed on your graph? Even if they used a RC boat w/ a ducer to illustrate what you see in real life it would be beneficial in learning your sonar, plus be really cool with a spit screen display.

Indeed ... especially if you're looking at a 2d sonar image.

had to look that one up

Trompe-l'œil (French for "deceive the eye", pronounced [tʁɔ̃p lœj]) is an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions. Forced perspective is a comparable illusion in architecture.

Over on the electronics forum, Kosmo has taken pix of ping pong balls tied to a line and then lowered into the water.....pretty good depiction of how things can appear down there. However, being able to discern what species of fish you are seeing is less certain. With the newer electronics, tho, we can easily identify trees, rocks, concrete, bridges, cars, and boats

Take a vacation to a Lake like Norfolk,Table Rock,Greers Ferry when its really cleared up and you can see 20 to30 ft deep at times. Gives you a pretty good idea because you can look at the screen and then the bottom,or tree or stump or rock. The signal will vary some between turbid and clear but does give you a good idea. Everybody needs to spend a week on an ultra clear lake at least once....it's a good excuse to make a fishing road trip. Course I don't need an excuse....I just need time and money LOL.

Doggone- I have been to clear water lakes and it has been very helpful in seeing what is shown on the chart and was very useful with my learning curve. I just think it would be cool if someone would make a video in a crystal clear tank with fish(big & little) rocks, mud, weeds, brush, etc. to give an idea of what is shown in 2d or even side imaging. I've seen the panoptics from Garmin and looks useful, but would like it shown in the application I am talking about.
