    Default Recipe

Here's a recipe I found on the Internet (with a few changes). Either it turned out real good or I was just hungry. It was real easy and took about 45-minutes I guess.

    Crappie Chowder

Steep about 4-cups Crappie Fillets in about 8-cups of water seasoned with 1 – 2 Tablespoons of Old Bay Seasoning for about 15-minutes, drain and chop/flake into small pieces.

While fillets are cooking, sauté about 4-cups of cubed style frozen hashbrown potatoes, ½-cup finely chopped onion, ½-cup finely chopped celery in about ¼-cup butter in a large skillet just until potatoes are tender but not mushy.

Add 1-can Cream of Mushroom Soup, 1-can of Cream of Celery Soup and 2 to 3-cups milk depending on how thick you want your chowder. Bring to a slow simmer, stir in fish, salt and pepper to taste (optional) and simmer about 20-minutes. Serve with Ritz or Oyster Crackers.

    Hey Slipcork:

That's not a bad idea - would be nice on these cool winter days. I need to round up some insulated containers to carry it in and I'll be all set.

Hey Jerry, that sounds good. If I can make the trip also maybe I can bring some of those sweet shrimp I have in the freezer. Sounds like they would go good with the crappie.:D

Those are fightin' words there, Dwyane.:D Those shrimp already have my name on 'em. Jerry hasn't had them, so he doesn't know what he's missing. I, on the other hand, know exactly what I'm missing.
