Default Uncharted waters WITHOUT a graph .....

Sometimes plans go according to plans , sometimes not ! after extensive repairs and replacements and general work on the ole ss minnow the new wiring isnt quite performing up to expectations ! i had a little trouble getting the graph to turn on the other morning . this trip i had the same isuue and NEVER got it to come up at all !
We left about 7 am with a lets hit a private lake with protection from the coming onslaught of wind and rain . I thought if we go early we would have a few things to our advantage . first the big ole moon was behind clouds all night . second i think the barometer would be falling . fourth if we go early we will be in front of the rain . and fifth and most important to me , its a pretty small lake and they cant get away .....fish in a barrel dont ya know .....LOL
our intention was to go explore the deep end of this water body with electronics and find the winter home .we have always fished docks on the shallow end and never been to the deep end of the lake . well when the graph wouldnt come on we decided to just cruise the shoreline and drop heavy jigs and depth check a bit. first stop was fairly shallow at around 6 to 7 foot deep . fish were dicey at best . the good news is a few went in the box .
next stop was down the way toward the dam and only one bass was there water was about 4 to 5 foot deep . third stop didnt hold any fish at all and the water seemed to be aound 10 to 12 foot deep ? i will say when the large brown thing in the tree above me came "running" down the branch , i told my bud hey look at this squirrel .
at that point i focused in a bit and we both went THAT AINT NO SQUIRREL ! it was big ole brown water snake ! anyway it hit the dock right in front of us an gave us that look . my bud says what kind brother and i said big water snake bro .
on we went to the next stop in about 13 to 15 foot of water and BINGO they they were !
we kept 37 and they were parked about an inch of the bottom . 90% of the fish were just on the jig when you raised it off the bottom . we fished 3 hours 8 am to 11 am and ran off the lake before the storm came in ....
mix of black and white crappie , lots of then in the 10 inch range with a few larger fish here and there . they wanted tiny jigs for the most part and we had a really nice time ....
thanks in advance for the reads and till next time ....
KABOOM ....and YES i still wish i had me a gun slinger emoticon ....
p.s. ....i got the graph to come on right after i put the ss minnow back in the garage
