    These are habitat Suitability Index Studies for Black and White Crappie.

    Who can figure out what Habitat they both prefer?

    This is for white Crappies and pretty much what we knew about PERFECT RESERVOIRS for them....
    Optimal lacustrine habitat for white crappie is characterized by the
    following conditions, assuming water quality is adequate (Good oxygen also); lakes and reservoirs
    with warm (> 20° C) surface water (68+ degrees); moderately turbid waters « 100 JTU);
    abundant cover (> 25% of littoral area) in the form of aquatic vegetation (25% of the lake shoreline in vegetation);
    brush and trees, extensive littoral zone (~15% of total area)(15% of shoreline area in brush and trees); and TDS
    levels of 100-350 ppm (Fertile water for algae, plankton, and micro-scopic food chain)
