Nice Crappie and some really nice spots. Bet they were fun on that ultralite.
Spent the morning and early afternoon at Center Hill. Had a pretty good day. Lost track of the number of Gills I caught but it was quite a few. Was after Smallies...Spots, crappie. No Smallies but quite a few Spots and two nice black nose crappie. The Spotted bass were deep.....huge shad balls as deep as forty feet with Spots feeding on them. Many times pushing the shad to the top...but mostly staying down deep. So many shad in the water they left an oil sheen on the water. All fish were caught using Trout and Crappie Magnets.....Bison and Midnight Blue in color. I was using 2# test with a Yamaga Blanks Blue Current UL rod. Had a lot of fun on light line and UL rod. Those Spots were digging and didn't want to come to the net. The crappie that is just over 13 inches was a fighter....at first I thought I had a good Spot he was fighting so hard. Really wanted more of those black nose but it was not to be....but Spots eat well too. All in all a fun day with the light tackle. Life is good!
