Took advantage of the weather today. Caught and released 16 drum, 9 channel cats, 1 lm bass, 1 shovelnose sturgeon and 1 pallid sturgeon. Great day on the river. Used a lot of crawlers. Was surprised the Gasconade was in such good shape after all the rain and high water we had for a couple weeks.

Sounds like a good time. I caught sturgeon in the mo river once but havent really gone back. Did you launch a boat in the river or bank fished?

Had to be a fun day catching that many fish. What was the water temperature on the river?

48 degree water temp. We eat drum. They are good. Have fish in freezer and didn't need to add any more. Just a fun day before winter might get here. The endangered lake sturgeon are a blast to catch. Nothing like having a 22 or 44 lb fish on your line jumping out of the water. The Pallid sturgeon are also endangered. Have to release immediately. The shovelnose can be kept but only under a certain length. I think maybe 30". Would have to check regulations to make sure on that. But there is no meat on them. Hard to clean and I didn't like them after the effort. They had a strong off taste.
