    And they were tiny (5-6")

Marked tons all over the place.

Even dropped it on their nose.

Any chance that most of that school were shad and you caught some of the few crappie that were chasing or hanging with them. I've mark good schools in the Chick and could not get bit. Dug out the cast net to see what they were. I brought up a bunch of shad with a bream and crappie in the mix. All hanging together. Where were you fishing?

    ranger raises a good point.

i have also seen crappie on the camera sitting motionless, barley moving a fin. we had to bump them to get them to slowly swim off a bit. then they would stop sometimes just in view still. cant always make them bite. some people down size, some find other schools, some go to bass or cats.... and others go home to mow the grass. lol thats fishin. ill blame the weather or currents usually

No shad or baitfish in this lake.

We started bass fishing and struck out.

Then turned to the Crappie we were marking.

The other morning I was marking fish and for 15 minutes I couldn't grab the rods fast enough to land all that was bitting then all the sudden they shut down and then it was nothing
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
