New KY Lake bridge going up

They are setting the 550 foot "basket" center span on the new bridge over KY lake today. The link below is for 5 cameras that are monitoring the work and up dating every 15 minutes. Quite an undertaking.

Is this the replacement for the bridge a barge took out a couple years back. That must be one heck of a crane or a group of them.

It is a scheduled replacement for the Eggners Ferry bridge that had a 300 foot section knocked down by the Delta Mariner a few years ago. The bridge was repaired from that damage.

Got a few pics of the new bridge today from the water. Little doubt the new bridge is going to be taller and much wider than the old one.

Nice post....I have caught a couple fish under that old bridge.

If you ever get by that old Benton hardware and see an old bald guy looks kinda goofy working in there be nice to him it's my brother and he ain't right.

I went through there on Saturday afternoon and took a look at it. It really makes the old one look small.

Thanks for posting. We had a family reunion there about 2 weeks or so after the old bridge got knocked down. At the time they were talking about the new bridge and debating about repairing the old one or waiting until the new one was done. Looks like they repaired the old one and still decided to build the new one. Nice!!!

In the top pic, on the far right, you can see the sort of flat top section of the old bridge. That is the section the Delta Mariner knocked down and was replaced.
