Wow! Nice crappie. That's what you call dedicated crappie fishermen. Thanks for the rainy weather fishing report and pictures.
I suppose that wasn't exactly the truth , there were quite a few beasts out in the flood and rain and cold . Then there was the 2 of us out in it as well . The weather forecast was rather dismal where we were headed ...due west of dfw.....and after 4 days of rain and the same thing over and over we said oh well lets just go . the one dock we are going to hit at least has a roof . I do know one thing with great certainty , we had 2 different folks tell us at 2 different locations say the EXACT same thing ! And both said this "now that's what real fisherman look like" ......
the first lake we visited was a complete strike out . the walkway was under water so we had to wade out to get on the dock . I had knew highs with me so I put them on and my bud who is beyond hardcore took off his shoes, pants and socks and waded it barefoot . Keep in mind it was 36 degrees and raining with a fair north wind blowing . We dropped jigs for about 30 minutes there and couldn't even get a peck .
So down the road we went to the second lake . The area flooding made the drive a bit tricky and the back roads between lakes were pretty ugly . We got to lake number 2 and looked out at the uncovered dock and said this ......"if we don't get bit right quick we are down the road for sure" . Sure enough we are there maybe 5 minutes and my bud hooks up ! Then I get a nice hard thump and I hook up. So there we stand in a rather steady cold rain ketchn crappie .Lost me several nice fish due to a batch of soft hooks . But as we got wetter and wetter we decided to hit a few other docks .We had about a dozen docks total in mind but because of the flooding we were only allowed by the rangers and the water levels to fish off 3 docks .
so out of 3 docks we found fish under 2 that wanted the jigs and once we were saturated beyond imagination and cold we went on down the road to home . Kept a few fish that were pretty fat and let a bunch a little fish swim on .
best baits seemed be something with a lot of chart .
water depths were around 15 feet .
the fish were parked on the bottom in brush .
nothing but crappie hit the offerings .
hope everyone has a great week .........

Thanks for the rather soggy report. It is completely clear to me sir... you definitely love the game and there is very little that is going to keep you from playing it.
