The wife and I are going to try to catch them under the 300 bridge in Swift creek. I've done well there in the past. I like to stay in the smaller water since I fish out of a canoe. I have been to the railroad tressel before, but after reading your reports on fishing the tressel I realized I was in the wrong spots. I fished more towards the rip rap on the state park side.

We fished the Smoak Bridge from 11 till 5 pm today. Didn't do so well for numbers. We only managed five crappie and one hybrid. The hybrid was a three pounder and was a fun fight on 4 pound line. The crappie were few, but all were over 12 inches. We had caught our own live bait at a nearby river here in Valdosta. We were using 3 inch shiners. I think that may be the reason for the larger crappie. We didn't actually begin fishing for them properly until about 2 pm. They were deep and very lethargic. Had to put the minnow or jig right in front of their noses. I'm going back on Tuesday and hope to do better with a few adjustments.

I just finished cleaning the fish, and all the crappie had eggs in them. Not bursting with eggs, but definitely the first stages. FYI.
