I use #4 and tie them with silicone skirt material or kip tail. Usually Chartreuse, pink or orange.
I was wondering if any of you use dressed treble hooks for your rear hook? What size treble and what color would you want to see?
Thanks all.

I am not real fond of tying them. Good Trebles are rough on the fingers don't mind the split rigs since I got a good set of pliers for them. I have done about 50% of mine with dressed hooks. Carry over from my bass fishing days I guess.

I think at times it makes the difference. I am big on contrasting colors right or wrong it's one of those confidence things for me. I know there is a guy that is marketing a add on tail for crank baits called Ziptails that seem to have gone over pretty big.

For me, it is easier to load a tube jig on the rear treble. Similar to Dave's Kaboom mean streak.
I don't pull cranks, yet! However I like the idea of a dressed treble.

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!
The only downside I could think of would be that the dressed hook may dampen the vibration/action of the lure.
Probably the speed and vibration is the reason the crappie hears it coming and strikes the lure.
