Bama, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not for vertical jigging. I bought a small 150yd spool of the moss green from Wal-Mart for about $13. I pulled two runs off it about 50 ft each to put on my 2 11' Ozark rods. All I do with those rods is vertical jig and rarely any deeper than 20 feet so the 50 feet I spooled on them is plenty for testing this winter. I spooled the rest that I bought onto a little multi purpose 6'6" medium action spinning rod. I got to test it in two applications this way, jigging and casting light tackle. So far I really like it.

If your new to braid, you owe it to yourself to test a few kinds.

You can go to sites that test all the Parameters of braid but the issue is that all 10lb braid are not the same size or strength....They will test braids of the same manufacturer test pound rating but one can be a rope compared to others.

The first line is a favorite...Power Pro Slick 8 (8 Strands) in 15 lb test...you can actually see the braids in the line, and it has a heavy wax coating to help it perform. Regular Power Pro is even larger in size and is only 3 strands.

The second line from the top is the New in 2015 Berkley 8 strand braid...in 15 lb test...it has a heavy wax coating also.

The third line is what I use, in 20 lb test.

The fourth is 12 lb test Nanofil.

So for a few bucks more, I can use a stronger, higher test poundage Tourney Braid, that is smaller, softer, and easier to handle! I'll do that every time!

You can run the same tests with 832, Daiwa Samurai, etc...

The last pic is a trick for all jig, swim-bait, and lure fishermen...throw a snap swivel on and tie it right to the braid...not only will you not get line twist, it allows the jig/etc to move freely and in different ways...sometimes that little weird movement or added action is all it takes to get a reaction!

I would like to add to the above posts... Chose braid by the line diameter not pound test. If you normally throw 6# mono, choose 6# equivalent diameter braid.

Power Pro slick and Berkley Nanofil are my top choices with Nano having the slight edge.

Love Power Pro Super Slick and have one reel with nano, but unsure if it so far and probably stay with my Power Pro at least for now!

Fished with power pro super slick yesterday and Friday and really like it. Feel is excellent! Tied a small barrel swivel on with about 2' leader of 6lbs. mono. Great system for vertical jigging.
