    Default Rod recommendations?

So what's everyone like for jigging rods? No trolling just good old casting to structure in early spring and brush pile fishing.

I have some Loomis rods I like a lot, but there are loads of good rods on the market.

6'6" ESP PowerLite rod (w/Shimano Spirex 1000fe & 6lb test Vicious Panfish copoly) is my choice for most casting method purposes.
My other "casting" rod is a 7' Bionic Blade (med action) with a Shimano Spirex 2000 reel & 10/2 PowerPro braid ... mostly used for Roadrunners, Whirly Bees, or baits heavier than 1/16oz. Also used when it's necessary to put those baits in close proximity to heavy cover.

You didn't specify your budget for this rod? You can get some inexpensive all the way up to extravagant! A great middle of the road rod (that I have two of) would be the B n' M, SHSS (Sam Heaton's Super Sensitive) in 7' length. Great casting and jig rod. Will handle everything you want to do. And it won't break the bank at about $50.00.

Matched with a #2520 Pflueger President spinning reel and it's a hard combo to beat.

I use a 7 foot Rapala ultra-lite rod for casting. I bought it from Sportsman's Guide a few years ago for $29.95. Never even knew Rapala made rods. I wish I had a dozen of them

Berkley Lightening Rod in 6' 6" about $40. Then I stepped up to St. Croix Premier Spinning (PS66ULF) 6'6" Ultra-Light Fast Action about $120. Night and day difference between the two rods. I used to think the Berkey was a great rod until I started using the St. Croix.
