Default Cut N Splice XDucer cable

I did a little search through the archives and didn't find a clear answer on this. Can a transducer cable be cut and spliced back together without risking compromising the functionality of the unit ? Anyone ever had experience with this ? Just wanting to clean up and streamline the little bit of space available in my little stump jumper 10' rig. Eliminating 6-7 feet of that cord twisty tied in a coil at my feet would be a good start ! Thanks !

Check with rnvinc on the electronics forum. Rickie does it all the time and should have plenty of advice.

Advice #1 ... NEVER splice below the water line ... (Accidental water intrusion into the wiring channels can literally fry your transmitters) ...

Advice #2 ... Take special care of any foil shielding ... It's conductive on 1 side only for a reason ...

Advice #3 ... Offset the individual wire splices so the repair is not as difficult for final sealing ...

And there is this option if you're not comfortable with soldering and sealing small wire splices ...

Thanks guys. I'll put this one on hold a bit. I'd hate to ruin a good working unit in the name of a little housekeeping. May undertake it after a little more thought and research !
