    Default TM Mount ?'s

I have gator mount that came out last summer, so I went to Bass Pro and purchaced the 4 rubber gromets and replaced the old ones to hold the mount. It poped out again 2 weeks ago. The only thing I can think of is I did not drill new holes, I used the orginal ones. Do yall think that was the problem? Or should I just get 4 bolts and 4 screws this time.

    Thanks

    Marc

I would question whether the holes are the correct size.
Were there instructions for what size holes?

No, I think they were standard sizes, they were tight when I installed them. Someone replied to me from another board with this advise which I will probablly use.

Cut the square top off the rubber isolators and use bolts and fender washers with nuts and solid bolt it,use the rubber squares for spacers between the T motor and boat deck, end of problem.

That sounds like the easiest way, and full proof, what do ya think?

    Thanks

That's the way mines on my boat. But I didn't use the rubber "spacers" either. Mine has a rubber non-slip pad where it mounts so I figured I didn't really need anything else except fender washers on underside.

Those well nuts have to be re-tightened after the first few trips.

If you still find them slipping. Take everything off. Line the insides of the holes with a thin layer of fiberglass resin to make the whole a little smaller. Re-drill with a smaller bit or sand smooth and reinstall.

I bought my boat new in '94. Had the same problem, TM was coming loose every few trips. Dealer said holes were too big and asked if I cared if he re- installed w/ bolts, fender washers and lock nuts. That TM never came off again until this year when I replaced it. I put the new one on the same way.
Actually the front 2 fastners are still the Isolater Bushings and the rear are as above. Good luck. CD
