I like them better.....get the ones with thumb bars......then if you catch a fish with line out shorter than pole you can easily let line out and swing the fish into the boat easier.
In lieu of spinning reels. Any pros Or cons?

I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I like bait casters for "tight lining" on poles 14 ft to 20 ft and spinning reels on all poles for long line trolling.

I troll with BC reels with cranks and push with them too. Casting lighter jigs is rough, I had to pull line out for a while til enough was out that the drag of the line took over. I use Shakespeare Axiom reels that I find for about $20 each used with good results. The best with cranks for sure. Spinners for the jigs or inexperienced guests.

Bait casters for me. I like the thumb bar to let line out in shallow water. Look at fishermans factory outlet.
