I paint my own and repaint some bandits when the need arises. I use #6 regular shank and advise not to use the cheap ones. There are many choices;VMC, Mustad, Eagle Claw and so on. I think it's best to buy like 10 or 25 cuz this will happen again. I use #2 1/2 fine split rings which are lighter than the tie on ring and will pull free getting your bait back and letting you replace the ring and hook. The standards used on the nose, or on the hook also if you like, are #3 standard. Not very expensive in 100 packs through Chuck and Debs. Good folks that ship quickly. Keep us posted on how you do with this, you're educating the rest of us too.

The #2 1/2 fine split ring works well and and not hard to put on after buying the recommend tool.
    Hooks ordered.
    Thanks
