Question Douglas Lake Accommodations in April?

It looks like my brother and I will be taking my dad (76 years young) to Douglas Lake in early April for some Crappie fishing. I have 3 questions.
    1) Where can we stay, someplace nice, on the water with a boat dock close by, cabin, resort, whatever. Would like a nice cabin, not too expensive, anyone have any ideas here?
    2) When does the Corp of Engineers start letting the lake fill up or will the lake still be low the first 2 weeks of April 1-16?
    3) Any good patterns or colors for Douglas, crappie jigs, minnows, etc.?
    Thanks,
    Dave :p

Surely someone fishes Douglas lake and know where someone can stay for a reasonable rate. Please help me out. We are from the Cincinnati area.
    Thanks,
    Dave

Default Did some research on the net!

I looked up some stuff on the net for you.Check out
    www.smokeymountainlake.com
    www.swainnsmarina.com
    www.douglasslakeinfo.com
Some have guide services on them and some are just basical resort services or cabin rentals.
I remember why I have not fished that lake now. The traffic in that area is horrible. Due to all the outoftowners. We have gone up there and sat in traffic all day just to get to Peigon Forge. The price of cabins goes up usually about mid March. They only reason I know this is my anniversy is tha first of March and if we go the week after the price usually jumps by about $150. Hope this helps but I don't know many people form around here that fishes that lake except the locals that know the back roads to get around the traffic.
If in doubt, cross their eyes!!

Thumbs up Thanks to those who responded

Just a thank you for those who gave us some information on where to stay.
We decided to stay at SWANNs Marina and their cabins. I know the lake will probably still be pretty low in early to mid April, can anyone out there point us in the right directions on patterns, and what are some colors of jigs you have used that have been successful?
    Again thank you!

I stay at indian creek boat dock and cabins not very fancy but clean the price is
reasonable also .also that is the best fishing area that time of year
most people will be trolling use two 1/16 flies tipped with minnows
4-6 lb test line try white chartruse head, chartruse red head
you will catch a lot of fish there is a 10'' size limit and creel limit of 15
I will be ther my self ast week end of march .I live about 70 miles from there.
fish it a lot. Last year at this same time frame we limited out every day.

    Question Indian Creek Boatdock?

Do you have a website or phone number for the Indian Creek Boatdock and cabins? Also this time of the year will the crappie be suspended out on flats or on steep banks with cover?
    Thanks for the info.
