Report: Finally got out!
Been struggling with home renovations for the past 7 weeks, so have missed out on most of the decent summer fishing. Hopefully things are settling down and my rods will once again, start getting a workout. Today, Walt & I decided to hit the Quabbin. In only 3 weeks, this great fishery will be closed for another winter!
We launched at 8 am and pulled off around 1:30 pm. Water temp was 68 degrees with the air cool to start, but getting into the upper 70's by noon. We drifted in a 5 - 10 mph breeze today. Not great. Much prefer 15 - 20 for maximim bite potential. But we took it. And we ended with 69 fish boated & released. A few bluegill, but most were crappie. Fine day to be on the water! Here's some pictures, starting with mine:
Here are a few of the fish Walt caught today:
No giants on this trip, but some decent run-of-the-mill fish for this neck of the woods. If we'd have had more wind to increase our drift speed, I'm sure we'd have done a heck of a lot better. Good day to be alive, regardless!
