Spring bobbers???

I was reading an article online the other day and the author was using a home made spring bobber(normall used in ice fishing) for normal pan fishing. I dont always get enough slack line to tell light bites espically if they pickit up while im pounding it. Just though it would be a good idea. Anybody ever try it?

Use it for ice fishin all the time. They work great!
