Hi, i found this trolling motor on ebay, it would cut the cost in 1/2 of buying a new one of this model.

do you think this is a good deal, if i were to get it for $225?

Yes they are slower in response and I have hit many many stumps but the only damage I ever had was breaking a prop from hitting a pier. MK has a lifetime warranty on their shafts so you know they have to be tough.

These are much faster than the older powerdrives. Mine has a two speed steering. It goes slow for a second then goes into a pretty fast turn. The only thing I have against these motors is there is no reverse so you have to spin the motor 180 degrees to reverse course. Which can make things aggrevating in winy situations fishing over structure or getting hung. However, you can't beat these motors for trolling. They are a must because of the variable speed control. The autopilot models are even better. I have fished all kinds of ways and done fine with these motors but if you are strictly a brush, docks man then I would go to a motor with reverse. CF
