Default WOW! I'm going to Florida...

My cousin married a Marine from Florida many years ago, and we have become good friends and fishin' partners. Every year when he gets laid off from construction work, he goes back home to visit and fish.

This year I got a rare winter lay off also. He called yesterday and invited me to go with him. We leave monday at 3:00 AM and we're hauling the Bass Tracker down.

I never fished in Florida, and I'm very excited. Going crappie and bass fishing...but he told me to call em' speckel perch and brim down there...not crappie and bluegill. They might not like this Yank down there :D

I got all my gear packed up, and I'm ready to go. I'm taking 4 rods...I hope I have enuff stuff.

    6'6" pflueger ultra light
    6'6" pflueger light action
    7' pflueger medium
    7' pflueger medium heavy baitcaster.

I just put on 4,6,8 and 12 lb Trilene and lubed em up before packing them away.

We are going to be there for 2 weeks and will be fishing one day on a saltwater trip...I have never been saltwater fishing.

From what I picked up, we will be near Gainesville and will also go to Cedar Key???

I can't wait, and I hope I didnt forget anything.

I'm gonna tear them crappie...I mean specks up!!

Any tips for a Pa. yankee in Florida??

Good luck Buckmark I hope you get on a few. I will tell ya this much though, fishing in Florida can be difficult, if you have never done it before. Mainly because it is so different from anywhere I have ever fished. The lakes have little if any underwater structure, and they are shallow compared to more northern lakes.

You should consider yourself lucky to have a native Floridian showing you the ropes. Will be a good time. However, I have to disagree with the coke comments above. That's how it is in the rest of "The South," but Florida is not the "Real South."
