Re: Lake Washington Mississippi Petition

Sometimes it only takes one person to step forward and try to correct a wrong when you see it happening. That’s what I’m trying to do with this petition to change the creel limits on Lake Washington. We’ve all seen the catch rate and size of fish go down in the last 4 or 5 years due mainly to the fishing pressure.

Lake Washington in Greenville, Mississippi is rated as the 2nd Best Crappie Lake in the United States. I think that wonderful. We’ve got to keep it that way. There is no way a 5,000 acre lake can sustain its trophy status with a 30 fish per person limit and 10 fish under 10”. It’s just too much pressure from in-state and out-of-state fishermen. We don’t have a problem with our out-of-state guests, they bring tourism dollars. We’re trying to put rules in place to keep this lake at the trophy fish status.

If you’ve ever fished Washington during the spring, you know that you can’t go up in the trees without seeing tons of YoYo’s and limb lines hanging from the trees. This has got to stop. That’s not crappie fishing.

You can make a difference. Sign the petition by clicking on the link below. Post it to your Facebook page, Tweet it, Email it to all your friends. Please urge all your friends and family to sign it.

We need at least 5,000 signatures to be heard. Currently we’re at approximately 400 signatures. We want to let MSWFP know that we want to protect this lake for our future generations.
