WOW. It ate a quarter. I remember when you could catch them on a nickle.
I was on Lake Barkley Sunday, pulling crankbaits on river and creek ledges. I finally had to move from one area that had zero crappie but was loaded with blue and channel catfish. I have a family member who takes any catfish I will bring her so I kept a few for her and a few for myself. When I went to clean some of the blues, they were loaded up with shad and other small minnows like I expected. One in particular seemed different. As I was filleting it I could feel something hard in the stomach contents. This is probably 1/2 of what I found in it. This fish was no more than 4 pounds. I think I'll be visiting this same are next spring when the redears start biting.

... when I first looked at that pic, I thought the quarter was part of the stomach contents and that someone may have dropped it overboard & the cat nabbed it as it fluttered down. Then I realized you had placed it in the pic for size comparison ... and had a good laugh at myself
And, yes sir, I'd definitely be checking that area for Shellcrackers ... for real
