    Default fly rod conversion?

I have an old 8'6" fiberglass fly rod that I am thinking of converting to a panfish rod. Problem is this thing is a full/slow action wet noodle. It was a hand built rod back in the 70's. Does anyone still use a rod with an action like this? I mainly bank fish so I would have to be able to cast it too. It's feels about like a 4/5wt rod so would he about right for this application.

    Thoughts?

I believe the action is called parabolic and starts bending in front of the handle. I find them hard to cast and even harder to control a big fish with them. Can't beat sentimental though, build it and have fun. Find parts on mudhole.com.
