Default Help need info on installing new deck

I have a weak front deck on my boat would like some info on how to get started. I really don't want to make a mess of this project.

It would probably help if you could post a couple of pictures and is it aluminum with wood deck or Fiberglas?.

I am in middle of a re-decking of an aluminum boat and I can tell you the decks are the biggest challenge. Cutting the hatches, framing the hatches and the holes has turned out to be a larger job than I thought.

If you are going to recarpet the deck you may be able to reuse the existing framing.

You can take photos with your phone, email them to yourself, and then post them from a computer.

Glass boats are nothing like aluminum. Much more involved and some skills in working with fiberglass are needed, as are some tools. It can be done and enjoyable, just make sure you want to finish what you start. Folks charge through the nose for finishing someone else's project.

Just did a partial replacement on my Javelin 409. Will post some pics. It was a job. It took me 3 weeks to do it but turned out great. The main thing is take your time, think it through. It is fiberglass and can be fixed.

I know this thread is a little dated. Have you done anything yet?
