How about hard 15# or 20# mono or flouro?
There are wire leaders with snaps that I don't care for when attached to light jigs. Anyone have ideas?
Tomorrow I will try two possible solutions:
Thin braided steel wire that is as limp and as thin a 6lb test mono;
the other a 4" thin solid wire attached to the line tie of the jig head with a wire twist for the line tie 4" up from the jig.
Losing four lures per outing won't break the bank, but what a hassle retying another lure!
braid... I catch them all the time while cranking
Twist weld wire. Make a loop and twist the tag end around and use a bic lighter and warm it the do the same for the end the end being attached to the lure.
Strong stuff - first time I ever saw it was on In-fisherman years ago and they were using it for Big Northerns in Canada.
Here's the info on it but lots of places carry it

Braid gets cut easier than mono! Pickerel in the 2lb or greater class cut through 15# test mono though not as fast and 20# would be too large a diameter for 1/16 oz jigs.braid... I catch them all the time while cranking
Braid gets razor tooth cut easier than mono! Pickerel in the 2lb or greater class cut through 15# test mono though not as fast as braid and 20# would be too large a diameter for 1/16 oz jigs. I hate using steel leaders but ya gatta do what ya gatta do!braid... I catch them all the time while cranking
I must have caught 15 or 20 jax in the last 3 weeks 0 break offs everyone in the 2 lb range I also pulled up part of a pallet and a truck axle with a ski rope attached different strokes for different folks I guess
sniperei LIKED above post
Also caught 3 or 4 gar in 10 lb range too
Single strand bronze wire to a duo lock snap so it can be removed when not wanted would get my vote. It will get kinked at some point and need replaced but it takes a heck of a beating. It's used around brackish water when fishing duck blinds ate up with barnacles so I think it would do fine.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Thanks. The lake I was going to fish that have picks in it, closed early and for my $10 I went elsewhere where there wasn't any picks.
